VTCT qualifications
Upon successful completion of your chosen course you will be awarded the Southern School of Beauty Diploma. This will enable you to obtain insurance with The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists or Professional Beauty Direct.
You also have the option to go on to take the VTCT international qualification – IHBC for beauty and IIHHT for holistic therapies. This involves the completion of a portfolio of evidence and attendance at our school for an assessment session. Upon application you will be sent a pack which gives instructions on how to complete a portfolio. This will need to contain client treatment record sheets, before and after photographs in some cases, and written assignments. You will need to show evidence that you have worked on a wide range of different clients.
For all VTCT qualifications it is also necessary to complete the Health, Safety and Hygiene Diploma D1120, which is valid for 3 years. This is a written assignment covering such things as legislation, hygiene, safety etc.
Once your portfolio is complete it can be submitted to the school to be marked, and if this is satisfactory, we will arrange for you to attend for assessment. Once booked you must attend, except for close family bereavement or with a doctors certificate.
On the assessment day you will carry out the treatment on your own model, and complete a multiple choice paper and label the appropriate anatomy and physiology diagrams. You can be assessed in several subjects in the one session.
If successful your VTCT qualification will be sent on to you, usually within 2 weeks. If unsuccessful, you can arrange to be re-assessed at a later date. There is a £50 fee for each re-assessment.
